Medicinal plant: Gotu Kola can improve the healing of venous ulcers
A recent 2025 pilot registry study of 160 patients found that standardized gotu kola extract added to standard wound care compared to standard care alone (control group), significantly decreased number of ulcerations and average ulcer area. At one month, 65% of ulcers in the treatment group had completely healed compared to 19% in the control group. By 90 days, complete closure reached 96% versus 84%. The study supports the herb's traditional actions of tissue repair, improved microcirculation, collagen synthesis and venous enhancement.
